NJPPC Members/Shore Dreams Big Winners at NYC Poker Run
Toms River, NJ, June 18, 2007 – Over a dozen New Jersey Performance Powerboat Club (NJPPC) members made the pilgrimage to NY City this past weekend for the 11th running of the NPBA New York City Poker Run! At the end of the day, two of our members and Shore Dreams For Kids had something to celebrate:
Peter Mazzo – Spirit of the NPBA Award
Every year the NPBA identifies one person at the Poker Run that stands out among the rest at the end of the day. A few years ago NJPPC member Tim Sharkey received this award for completing the poker run in his 13’ Sharkey V-Bottom. This year’s recipient was NJPPC’s Peter Mazzo.
Pete has been a fixture at the NPBA New York City Poker Run since the first year it was produced 11 years ago. Pete has always steadfastly supported and promoted the event year after year. The running joke in NJPPC is that Pete has probably participated in the most poker runs out of any of our members but has never won anything! This year Pete carried home the 6ft tall Spirit of the NPBA Trophy!
Greig Lutz – 3rd Place with 3 Aces
Greig has also been a long time supporter and promoter of the NPBA New York City Poker Run. Greig is also a member of NJPPC and a dedicated supporter and volunteer of Shore Dreams For Kids.
When the cards were all drawn at the end of the day Saturday, Greig won 3rd Place with 3 Aces. The prize was $500 in cash! After graciously accepting the cash prize from the “Party Master” himself Billy Frenz, Grieg Lutz called Dave Patnaude, a Director of Shore Dreams For Kids, to the stage and handed over the $500 prize! Greig generously thought that the money was better served donated to Shore Dreams For Kids.
Shore Dreams For Kids
Billy Frenz & the wonderful people of the NPBA allowed Shore Dreams For Kids to once again raise money for the annual event at the New York City Poker Run. Between Greig Lutz’s Donation and raffle sales, Shore Dreams For Kids raised over $1,300!
About the New Jersey Performance Powerboat Club
The New Jersey Performance Powerboat Club (NJPPC) was founded in 1999 and has over 200 members. The NJPPC is a members-run club that’s charter is to provide its members with top quality Poker Runs and other exciting events. It enthusiastically welcomes a broad cross-section of performance powerboaters to join the club. Its schedule is planned considering both smaller and larger boats. Consequently, its membership spans from owners of 18’ to 50’ boats!
Distinct from other Poker Run organizations, the club chooses to limit the number of event participants to assure safety, promote camaraderie and to facilitate a well-run, enjoyable day for all involved. The limited number also affords access to the highest quality marine facilities such as Trump Marina Hotel & Casino in Atlantic City. The club has no profit motivation prompting it to host the biggest events – but it is strongly motivated to run the best events and in that way, everybody profits! NJPPC membership is required to participate in the club Poker Runs.
For further information please visit the club’s website at: http://www.njppc.com. NJPPC can be contacted via telephone at 732 674-2946, via email at njppc@aol.com or via mail at: Dave Patnaude – President, NJPPC, 604 North End Ave, Toms River, NJ 08753.
About Shore Dreams For Kids
Shore Dreams for Kids is a non-profit 501c(3) fully exempt “not for profit” organization that raises money annually for an event for hundreds of children from the Special Olympics as well as mentally and physically challenged children, special needs children, and their families. This event offers a day of entertainment which includes a “carnival atmosphere” complete with games and small rides, an antique car display, food and drinks, live entertainment and performance powerboat rides on Barnegat Bay at the Jersey Shore. The boat rides are conducted by local performance powerboat owners, including but not limited to the New Jersey Performance Powerboat Club (NJPPC) who volunteer their time and boats to share with those less fortunate.
