Big or Small - Fast or Slow - We have a fun event for you!

The New Jersey Performance Powerboat Club (NJPPC) Planning Committee met last month to review the 2009 Season as well as develop the upcoming 2010 Season schedule. The NJPPC Planning Committee headed by club President Dave Patnaude, meets regularly throughout the year and makes all major decisions that impact NJPPC. The Planning Committee plays a huge roll in schedule planning, event rule changes, new event ideas and most importantly how to execute all of the club’s events. The Planning Committee is also well balanced in regard to the Committee members and the types of boats that they own. This ensures that all members of NJPPC are fairly represented when event planning takes place.

Last month the Planning Committee decided on the following events for the 2010 season:

Saturday February 6th  2010 - Atlantic City Boat Show Winter Party

Our 12th YEAR for this annual event allows members old and new to get together for the first time since the end of the boating season the previous year. It is a casual evening with elegant dining where we celebrate friendships and honor a few special members from last year’s season.

Sunday May 30th  2010 - Memorial Day Weekend Social

This annual event has proven to be a fun and relaxing one. It is also the first event of the boating season! No pre-planning and no advance registration is needed. Members come together at the Captain’s Inn in Forked River NJ for an afternoon of good food, good times and some “busting chops” since it is the first time we get together as a group for the new boating season!

Friday June 25th  2010 - Atlantic City Overnight Poker Run

This annual event has been the epicenter of the NJPPC schedule since it’s inception back in 1998. Three years ago, we moved this event to a Friday instead of Saturday. The result? A 95% approval rating from the attendees!! Half of the participants went home on Saturday. The other half spent the weekend at Trump Marina and had a “Lunch Fun Run” to Lamberti’s in Margate. This year we will repeat 2009’s event. We will also have Tim Sharkey hanging out of a helicopter once again to cover all of the action with his ZOOM lens!

Saturday July 3rd  2010 - Wave Runner Poker Run

This past year we had over 30+ Wave Runners at each NJPPC Wave Runner event. These events have been a big success and a lot of fun!

Saturday July 10th  2010 - Raft Up – Tices Shoals

Our record was 25 boats in 2007. This year, we are looking to break that record!  This is another event that requires no pre-planning and no advance registration. The day consists of great food and drink, laughs and unlimited swimming and rafting fun!

Saturday July 17th  2010 - Shore Dreams For Kids

This event which was originally started by the Day on the Bay Foundation in the 70’s. Since then this events has put smiles on 1,000’s of Special Olympians as well as mentally and physically challenged children, special needs children, and their families. This event offers a day of entertainment which includes a “carnival atmosphere” complete with games and small rides, an antique & classic car display, food and drinks, live entertainment and performance powerboat rides on Barnegat Bay at the Jersey Shore. The boat rides are conducted by local performance powerboat owners who volunteer their time and boats to share with those less fortunate. This is definitely a DO NOT MISS event!

Saturday August 7th 2010 - Roar At The Shore Poker Run

We brought this event back two years after a several year hiatus. The NJPPC Planning Committee decided to bring this event back in 2008 and it was a huge hit!  The $199 entry fee + the beach party was a home run. This year – it will once again be a $199 entry fee event and we will go back to Jenkinson’s for the beach party!

Thursday August 19th – Monday 23rd 2010 - NJPPC Chesapeake Bay Rendezvous'

This event was first tried in 2008. We had 10 boats and we spent 3 days exploring all the Chesapeake had to offer. The result = all participants said that “IT WAS ONE OF THE BEST BOATING WEEKENDS THEY HAVE EVER HAD!”  We had a self imposed speed limit of 65mph for the weekend and an incredible time was had by all. In 2009, 23 extended the event to 5 days and we even had more fun!  This year we will have a 3 night and 4 night option with a group dinner on Saturday night instead of Sunday night.  Stay tuned for more details on this event as we move into the 2010 season!!! (this event will be limited to 15 boats)

Saturday  September 4th  2010 - Black Jack—28’ft and Smaller  Poker Run

NEW EVENT!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This will be our first attempt to host an poker run specifically for smaller boats. We hope this will provide smaller boat owners an opportunity to checkout NJPPC and get the taste and feel of an NJPPC event!

Sunday September 19th 2010—Atlantic City Fun Run

NEW EVENT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

September provides some of the most awesome weather at the Jersey Shore!  The other bonus in September is that the boat traffic on Barnegat Bay drops by 75%! This year we grabbed 1/2 dozen boats and went to Trump Marina for the day for lunch. The result was one of the nicest days of the year! So, for 2010 we decided to put it on the NJPPC Calendar and hopefully grow the fleet of boats for the casual run!

We are very excited about the 2010 schedule and we look forward to having another SAFE & FUN season where boating and friendships flourish!
